Homework Philosophy and Policy

Click on Homework for weekly assignments.

Homework Philosophy

Homework is to provide practice for concepts taught in class.
It is a chance for students to show parents a skill we are working on.
It can provide a time for parents and students to interact through reading.
It gives students a chance to practice organizational skills and time management.
It strengthens responsibility.

Frequency

Homework will be assigned Monday through Friday nights. Students will record assignments in their agenda. Long term projects may be assigned, periodically.

How to Help

Establish a routine that works for student and parent.
Find a quiet, comfortable study area.
Parents should be available for help and encouragement.

Partner Reading

Parents are encouraged to take turns reading pages with their child. Students will complete a reading log, nightly. Over the weekend, the log should include a summary of parent/student responses to the reading.

Problems?

If your child is struggling or frustrated, stop, sign the homework and return it to school.
Feel free to contact me.
